Is Norwegian Cruise Line sailing from Galveston in summer 2028?

Yes! Norwegian Prima is coming to Galveston for Summer 2028, sailing 7-night, Saturday-to-Saturday Western Caribbean cruises to Cozumel, Roatán, Harvest Caye and Costa Maya.

Norwegian Prima is coming to Galveston for Summer 2028, and this is one cruise announcement that immediately got my attention.

Not simply because it's Norwegian Prima.

Because it's SUMMER.

Norwegian has sailed from Galveston seasonally before, but adding summer sailings gives Texas cruisers something we definitely need: another choice.

Summer cruises from Galveston are filling earlier

Here's the part travelers may not realize yet.

I'm already seeing summer 2027 sailings from Galveston filling up, and we're still a year away.

That doesn't surprise me. For Texas families, being able to drive to Galveston instead of flying to Florida can make a cruise vacation so much easier. No airfare. No worrying about flight delays before embarkation. Load up the car and head to the port.

And when you're working around school calendars and summer vacations, those convenient sailings become especially popular.

That's why Norwegian bringing Prima to Galveston for summer 2028 is bigger news than simply adding another ship.

So, where is she going?

Norwegian Prima will sail 7-night, Saturday-to-Saturday Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston with stops including:

  • Cozumel, Mexico

  • Roatán, Honduras

  • Harvest Caye, Belize

  • Costa Maya, Mexico

It's a familiar Western Caribbean itinerary, but now Texas cruisers have another cruise line and another style of ship to consider.

And I am ALWAYS in favor of more choices.

One little piece of advice...

If you're thinking about a summer cruise from Galveston, don't assume you need to wait until a few months before sailing to start looking.

What I'm seeing with summer 2027 is telling me otherwise.

The more particular you are about your ship, dates, cabin type or location, the more important it becomes to start looking early.

And now we have another option to put on the list for Summer 2028.

Texas cruisers, what do you think?

Would you sail Norwegian Prima from Galveston?

Until our next story,
— Gina Renee
